Vasco da Gama had died in India and was buried in a monastery, but his remains were subsequently brought home and interred with pomp and ceremony. Vasco da Gama was ill-treated by the King of Calicut. He then had set sail with his many ships, which were all well armed to defeat the Muslim traders when he stumbled upon them.
